Port Aransas, TX
As residents of Port Aransas since April of 2010, we have explored, experienced, and enjoyed everything there is to see and do on Mustang Island.
Here are some of our very favorites and highest recommendations:
Port Aransas Brewery -- Owned by Bob and June Pettit, two aviation enthusiasts, this is Port A's local brew pub. Try a different kind of beer every time you come to Port A! Within walking distance of the hotel.
Venetian Hot Plate -- The best restaurant in Port Aransas, period. Fabulous food, outstanding service. Despite the silly name, this restaurant has a real chef, and they prepare fresh seafood with an Italian flair. Try it -- you can walk to it from the hotel.
Shell's Restaurant -- This could be the best restaurant in Port Aransas, except that it's so small it's almost impossible to get into all summer long. We HIGHLY recommend it for off-season fare, when the crowds are smaller.
Wild Horse Saloon -- The best burger on the island, and the coldest Shiner Bock in bottles! They serve salted-in-the-shell peanuts (toss the shells on the floor), and it's within walking distance of the inn!
Bernie's Beach House -- Port Aransas's hottest night spot, home of the "Mustang Island Iced Tea". You should only have two of them -- we usually have three! Four bars under one roof, and a huge dance floor. Within walking distance of the inn...
Skydive South Texas -- Port Aransas's own skydiving school and operation. Take off from our island airport, Mustang Beach Airport, and land on the broad, sandy beach!
